I have a Bushmaster ORC 308 that I could try Trail Boss in but I doubt the findings would differ much For a sub-sonic 308 load I run 180 gn Hornady SST, 10.5 gn of IMR Trail Boss and a CCI Magnum primer from a 20" 1-in-10 twist barrel. So I have been working up a load with bullseye powder to keep it under 1090fps for a subsonic .308 load. Compare that to 0ver 45% usage in the 308. To stabilize 200-220 grain bullets subsonic, 1/8 twist is good, and 1/7 twist is better. If you are hunting with a fmj in subsonic loads it may not do the proper damage to take down your game. Most of my testing with Trail Boss has indicated that velocities at 70% fill or a bit higher are around 50% of the velocities loaded with normal powders. I just want to know. I have tried Trail Boss in 17 Hornady Hornet, 223, 243,7mm Rem Mag, 30-06. Something softer like a 220 gr Sierra Pro Hunter.
